H2O= Water

Happy Saterday! Quick question: how many glasses of water have you had today? My answer: ummm...about that... Haha! Anyway we are all a little guilty of not drinking enough water. So that is why I am here to help you obtain more H2O! But first lets learn a little more about this...water.

Probably the most known fact is that water covers 71% of the earths surface. But I am not here just to tell you what you already know...Probably. Another thing that you need to know about water is the fact that the whole "Drink 8 glasses of water a day" thing is a fad. You really need 2 liters of water a day. In a liter, there are 34 ounces so you need 68 ounces a day. Some experts believe you can estimate the amount of water you need by taking your weight in pounds and dividing that number in half. That give you the number of ounces you may want to drink each day. For example, if you weigh 140 pounds, you might want to drink at least 70 ounces of water or other fluids per day. When you exercise, you should drink another eight ounces of water for every 20 minutes you are active(eg. exercise 60 min.-drink 24 oz.).

The cool thing is that if you don't like the taste of water, like me, you can add a bunch of yummy and healthy things in it. For example, you can add a slice of lemon that cleanses and clears out the body of free radicals that affects your well being. Or a slice of lime also adds some tang. But to get truly creative...add a slice of both! For any tea drinkers out there and everyone else, have you tried Green Tea? This is full of antioxidants that again clears out the body and can help with energy supply. If you make this with water and drink it, then that counts as water.

There are many ways that you can drink more water besides liking the taste. What if you constantly have to buy water bottles or carry around a huge metal bottle in your purse that ways 10,000 pounds!??!?!?! That's where I come in to help you. A few ideas are below:


  • A Waterbobble: A bottle with a filter built in that filters any water, even tap. The filter lasts through 300 full bottles!   • EcoBottle from Sprouts: This is the same concept as the Waterbobble, except it has a straw! I personal prefer straws so this is nice for me! This is a bigger bottle and the filter with work for 100 full bottles.

Don not forget to bring you water to the gym! But now that you know how, why? Water naturally cleanses out free radicals and basically anything and everything that can possible hurt you. It flushes out the bad stuff and rehydrates your bod after many crunches, stairs or salty snacks....Hehe! Did you know that your body is about 65% water, if not more? Well now you do :) Your blood is mostly water which means that if you don't get enough then you wont get enough oxygen because it also transports oxygen into your blood and body. Now if you have headaches, pain in your lower back, joints and muscles, then get a glass of water and drink up! These are the early signs of dehydration.
